Sept 26 – The Big Easy in Buffalo Concert Series at Duende

The Big Easy in Buffalo brings a taste of The Cresent City to The Queen City.  We love some funky horns and NOLA jazz — you can’t help but dance.   This show at Duende in the Silo City complex brought together our favorite parts of Buffalo with The Brass Machine’s awesome New Orleans jazz and it was a fabulous time! We’d love to say it was the perfect fall day, but it was a little cold and windy to be outside.  However, we are up to the challenge and flew high despite a few chills.  It was well worth it! And we got some beautiful photos courtesy of Jeff Tracy

August 15 – Earth’s Elements: Aerial and Dance at Penn Dixie

Summer is magical to Western New Yorkers, and while cancellations and closures threatened to dull some of the magic, summer’s best feature remained wide open.  The great outdoors is always a pleasure, and aerialists and dancers came together to celebrate nature with inspiration from the four elements of earth, water, air, and fire. Jenn starting some fires on the silks Performers from Buffalo Aerial Dance mimicked flames, soil, wind, and waves with dramatic plunges and playful explorations.  Calling upon natural elements that both thrill us and calm us, dance artists from Metts Dance, shared their choreography in this unique  setting. Penn Dixie Fossil Park & Nature Reserve is a former shale quarry where large amounts of fossils were discovered while it was being mined.  The fossils found there date back 350 million years, and the most famous is the trilobite, a prehistoric marine creature, but there are tens of thousands of fossils on site.  The atmosphere at Penn Dixie evokes prehistoric earth, a time when Western New York (and most of North America) was submerged under

Feb 28-29 – Lockport Exchange Club Circus, The Kenan Center

We were so excited to perform in this full-fledged circus production right in Lockport where our new studio is located!  The Lockport Exchange club has been coordinating this annual circus for 60 years, and our partners from Flips Gymnastics have been involved with the event for the last 30.  We were thrilled to be initiated into the leading event of our new local community.   The show was held at the Kenan Center, and felt just like a big top circus with jugglers, clowns, balloon arts, and live music. Giggles and zaniness were already plentiful, so we brought the drama and suspense to make sure all were entertained to the max.

Feb 15 – Love is Cold: An Aerial Showcase

February brings us blizzards and cupid, snow and sweets, ice crystals and amour.  Buffalo Aerial Dance students and instructors took these themes to the circus. Is love cold literally or metaphorically? Can one really love when one is cold? How cold are we talking? These questions are best answered by dangling majestically in the air, which is of course what we happen to do best!  Our student showcase offered an evening of aerial acts exploring various oddities and afflictions, pushing the idea of Valentine’s beyond Hallmark into something a little different. This event featured aerial performance on Silks, Trapeze, Lyra, Rope, and other circus talents. Photos coming soon!

Feb 8 – ICP Masqerade Ball at Hamlin House, Buffalo, NY

Buffalo’s best masquerade and drag queen ball is a blast every year.  We love performing alongside such talented and sassy queens and supporting a great cause.  The Imperial Court of Buffalo is known for choosing lavish themes, and this year was no exception with stylish Hogwarts decor enlivening an already royal experience.  Our four aerial wizards each flew in from their own house.  The brave Gryffindor stepped it up on trapeze; cunning Slytherin displayed mastery on the aerial rope.  Our Hufflepuff sweetheart charmed the audience with aerial silks, and the wisest of all, Ravenclaw, was supremely creative on the lyra.

Dec 31 – NYE at the Niagara Conference & Event Center

We rung in 2020 in the best of possible ways!  This family friendly event is great for kids, and pretty darn fun for adults too.  We brought our high energy acrobatics, goofy circus antics, and plenty of sparkles to the party.  In addition to all that, there were some very amusing inflatable games and a range of great local entertainment including magician Nels Ross, Disney characters, and face painters.  There was a great turn out and lots of energy in the room to welcome the new year and the new decade.   Pictures coming

Oct 26 – Witches Ball at the Statler Towers, Buffalo, NY

The theme for this years Ball of Witches was glamour and gore — and what else would you expect from a Halloween masquerade ball?  As for your favorite local aerialists, we brought the witches to their namesake ball, flying on broom and casting spells on the crowd from above.   The lobby of the gorgeous Statler Hotel was crawling with glamorous oddities, and all of Statler’s many ballrooms were decked out with sparky and spooky amazingness. https://www.witchesballbuffalo.com/ Photos by Glenn Murray

Oct 25 – Doom n Boom at Riverworks – Buffalo, NY

The inaugural Doom n Boom event was Buffalo’s heaviest Halloween party.  The event brought national musical acts together with carnival rides, fire performers and stilt walkers from Showstarters Entertainment and some high flying aerial acts from you-know-who.  Riverworks has the best ceilings in town for aerial arts!  And some of the best music too.  We loved rocking out with Sullivan King, SWARM, and Sandman Metallica tribute

Sept 27 – Play/Ground, Medina, NY

We loved getting our art on for the hip happenings of Play/Ground.  With tons of local artistic talent, this event engaged the senses, expanded the mind, and inspired imagination. We performed at the Friday evening Preview Party alongside some amazing inflatable sculpture from Chicago artist Claire Ashley.

Sept 7 – Music is Art – Buffalo, NY

Music is Art is an ever-evolving experience.  This year the festival expanded beyond just the Riverworks terrace into the neighboring grain elevators.  It was so much fun to perform aerial fanciness in Buffalo’s famous industrial landscape, dressed up with some striking sculptures by local artists Tara Sasiadek and Marquis Burton.  These concrete relics were the perfect complement to our splashy circus tricks, a unique combo that reflects Buffalo’s rebirth in the arts and culture.
